My daughter Amy makes custom wreaths. As the mother of two young children, she started her business, Whimsical Wreaths by Amy, so that she could stay home with her kids. She is what is now called a “mompreneur”.
I met a number of other mompreneurs at a small, local blogging conference that I attended. In talking to a few of the women who were in the “mysideof50” age bracket, we all commented how great it was to see these young entrepreneurs and writers learning, thriving and doing so well. For some, blogging was a hobby. But for many, it was a business. Some blogged and promoted their business full time. Others blogged on the side in addition to a full-time career. Others were stay-at-home moms working to supplement their income so that they COULD remain at home with their kids.
All in our over 50 crowd were delighted to see that with the growth of Etsy, the internet, and blogging, young women had SO MANY options that just weren’t possible for our generation.

These are brilliant! I’ve never seen anything like them. She is gifted and talented. I loved looking at each one!
Thanks so much, Cathy. I am very proud of her and love all the ones she has created. She DID not get any of her artistic ability from me – that is FOR SURE! 🙂
Thank you so much, Cathy! I never saw myself as a crafty person until I started making wreaths. I finally found my niche and I’m so happy I’m able to share it with you all.
How gorgeous these wreaths are, and so unusual. I tweeted out the first tweet, but I had to cut a character out as it is too long. You might could just cut “just” out when you edit so it’s the correct count.
Thanks, Carol! I love her wreaths! Fixed the tweet- thanks!
I love the idea of wreaths for all occassions. I will definitely check these out! What great presents as well!
Yes, I think they are too! Something different for every occasion!
My daughter is a SAHM. She blogs about motherhood. I love her blog. I learn so much from her. These wreaths are magnificent and so creative!
Thanks, Ellen! Isn’t it great that these young moms can be creative and have so many options?
I second what Cathy said, I have never seen anything like these wreaths and enjoyed viewing the many designs. Wishing Amy the best of luck in her new endeavor! I have to say I think it’s wonderful that there are so many ways for people to be creative and supplement their income.
I agree, Elin! Thanks for taking a look and leaving such a nice comment. Amy reads them all and is encouraged!
such an amazing assortment – she is a very talented girl! I wish I was that creative! I’ll have to settle for working at a desk for now 🙂
Thanks, Leanne! I love what she has taught herself to do!
Your daughter makes gorgeous, colourful wreaths! Wishing her all the best with her business Cathy x
Thanks, Valerie. I am so proud of her for teaching herself how to make the wreaths and starting her own business!
