Best Skin Hydration Products | My Favorites to Moisturize Dry Skin

It’s COLD outside. That means anytime you spend outside your skin is exposed to brutally cold air and wind. And any time you spend inside your skin is affected by air that is hot and dry.  Resulting in skin that is woefully dehydrated. Even living on the Texas Gulf Coast with all of it’s humidity doesn’t make me immune to dry skin. So here is my list of the Best Skin Hydration Products. These are the ones I use every day.

Why You Should Hydrate Your Skin

Right now, your skin is dehydrated. No matter how much water you drink.  So you need to use products that will hydrate your skin and keep it hydrated.

Why? Because well-hydrated skin is more resilient. Hydrated skin will remain flexible and allow your protective lipid barrier to remain intact while keeping moisture in. Hydrated skin is better protected from environmental factors, UV radiation, germs and irritants!

And it starts with what you use when you shower. “They” say to avoid hot showers, so I’ll say it too. But do as I say, not as I do. I LOVE a super-hot shower! Especially when it’s cold outside. But what I use when I shower is this doTerra Moisturizing Body Bar. I used to use Caress Body Bars and Body Wash. Super creamy, but I don’t really know what they did to hydrate my skin, even though I liked it.

Then my sister gave me one of these doTerra Moisturizing Body Bars for Christmas one year, which I thought was weird because in the package she also included some of their hand soap and toothpaste. Was she trying to tell me something? And then I used it. This Doterra Bar is not like anything I have ever used before.

It looks like soap, but it doesn’t feel like soap.  There are no harsh surfactants in it. It’s infused with Jojoba seed oil, vegetable derived glycerin and aloe vera juice. It just leaves your skin feeling clean and moisturized.

Rodan + Fields Active Hydration Body Replenish*

This is an ultra-hydrating body moisturizer that I put on damp skin right out of the shower.  It has hyaluronic acid which holds up to 1,000 times it’s weight in water and helps PREVENT future moisture loss. It’s light, creamy, non-greasy and absorbs quickly. Which is something I want when I’m trying to get dressed and out the door in the morning.

Rodan + Fields Active Hydration Serum*

I have been using this serum for a year and my skin loves it. If I was down to my last dime and had to decide between this serum and paying the mortgage, I would seriously get this serum! Active Hydration Serum is an oil-free serum that raises the level of your skin’s hydration 200% on the first application and protects your skin from losing moisture for 8 hours.

You use it AFTER cleansing and toning and BEFORE you apply your moisturizer. Active Hydration Serum balances your skin’s moisture levels and prepares it to better receive any products you layer on after it, boosting their performance. Seriously – you have to try this!

Rodan + Fields Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex*

This gel eye cream is for the thin, fragile skin around your eyes, often the first place to show signs of stress and fatigue. Over time, it improves the appearance of dark circle and under eye puffiness.

Rodan + Fields Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid Broad Spectrum SPF 30*

This is a new product I have added to my hydration arsenal. Radiant Defense is considered a Dermacosmetic because it is formulated with anti-oxidants and protects against environmental aggressors. It also helps protect your skin’s moisture barrier. I wear it even on my non-makeup days, just because it feels so good on my face. And after all that hydrating, I want to continue to protect that moisture barrier.

Radiant Defense is very lightweight. I use it in place of foundation. The coverage is buildable so you can have as little or as much coverage as you want.

If you want a sample of Radiant Defense, tell me in the comments and I’ll send you one! It comes in six shades.

Hydration for Your Hands and Feet

I put on hand lotion several times a day, but I still find that my cuticles get dry and start looking bad. When I went from my acrylics back to natural nails (read about that here), I started using this double whammy:

Deborah Lippmann It’s A Miracle Cuticle Oil followed by Juara Coconut Illipe Hand & Nail Balm.

First I apply the cuticle oil and rub it into my cuticles. I follow it up with the Juara, rubbing it into my cuticles first and then rub the excess into my hands. The oil penetrates the nail bed, keeping my nails healthy and the Juara hydrates, plumps, brightens and conditions my cuticles.  The Juara is very thick. Not like a traditional hand lotion or cream, so I don’t keep it by the sink to use after washing my hands. I try to do this process in the evening before bed.

I hate the way my heels and feet get all dry and cracked looking between pedicures, so I started using Sol de Janeiro Samba Foot Fetish Cream. It comes with a board to smooth and exfoliate the dry skin on your feet. Then you rub the cream into them. It absorbs quickly and if I am consistent, my feet stay looking great all the time.
